Addendum: Nature knew humans would not always have access to the proper nutrients to keep healthy, so an adaptable backup plan was installed for many body functions. This backup plan often works well for a period of time, but will eventually fail and result in disease if the body does not revert back to the primary way it was designed to function.     

EXAMPLE: The blood has to contain a certain amount of calcium. When the diet is low, there are a number of ways the body can conserve calcium. One method is to take calcium out of bone storage to go into blood. If bones have plenty of calcium reserves, this would not impact overall bone health. But, if this method is used too often, bone strength would be compromised.

* Standard Medical practice operates on the premise that germs cause disease. Kill the germ and the disease is cured. But what about the Hotel that brought up the legionnaire disease situation. Everyone in the hotel was exposed to the same amount of germs in the air conditioning system, but why did only half the hotel guests came down with the disease? Therefore, the germ must only be part of the disease process. Whether or not one exhibits the disease is also determined by the immune response of the body to either allow the germs to proceed to the disease state or not.

** This is the reality for Medicare advantage plans getting dropped by many large Doctor Groups. But these agencies long ago eliminated certain natural forms of some vitamins because it appeared the body didn't need them or could get along without them through adaptive mechanisms. Recent research has shown this might have been unwise. Consuming current multi-vitamins based on the old formulas significantly misses out on many health benefits revealed by this new science. Plus, the known pitfalls in the current products can become magnified over time.

ARE SCIENTISTS TESTING THE WRONG VITAMIN FORMS?

  • 95% of supplement Beta Carotenes are synthetic and exist only in the all-trans form. article
  • Carotenoids in natural foods have many forms with unique and synergistic functions; all-trans beta carotene, 9-cis beta carotene, 13-cis beta carotene, alpha carotene, etc
  • Vitamin D3 is more effective than vitamin D2.
  • Before vitamin D activities happen, these nutrients must be present; magnesium, 9-cis retinol (a vitamin A factor), and vitamin K2 (for bone mineralization), as well as the thyroid hormone PTH.
  • The name Vitamin E and unit amounts are only given to alpha tocopherol. But Nature has 7 other related vitamin E family members, each with similar but also unique functions that the alpha tocopherol form does not do or does not do as effective (lower cholesterol, protect brain, and reduce certain cancers).
  • Vitamin E in 95% of multiples exists as either mainly synthetic dl'alpha tocopheryl acetate or as an isolated natural d'alphla tocopherol. This is incomplete vitamin E. Multiples should include all 4 mixed tocopherols (alpha, beta, delta, & gamma) with given amounts listed. Plus, in addition the 4 tocotrienols (alpha, beta, delta, & gamma) should be taken separately to avoid absorption interference from tocopherols. article
    • NOTE: The above mentioned vitamins are all fat soluble vitamins. They can be stored in the body for some time and thus are not needed to be consumed daily. This represents a potential flaw in daily multi-vitamins and is why lower dosages are suggested in new criteria.  Plus, this is why the body would benefit from skipped days of vitamin intake. It may also prove advantageous to occasionally take a separate vitamin E family of tocopherols with a separate tocotrienols on different days. Since vitamin E members are fat soluble, it may only be necessary to take once or twice a week, determined by overall dosage totals, health factors, and dietary vitamin consumption. The correct intake amounts for many vitamins like vitamin E family members are still waiting for proper research.
  • Vitamin C as ascorbic acid works best if the other related family nutrients are included, bioflavonoids, rutin, & hesperidin. article They protect vitamin C as well as have unique functions. ref
  • Far to many multiples include too much calcium and not enough magnesium. The ratios of minerals to each other are critical. Some foods have excess ratios, like dairy foods, and should only play a limited role.
  • Extreme mineral ratios put stress on Kidneys to maintain balance points.
  • Some selenium forms are inorganic and are not recommended, like sodium selenite and selenate. These forms can be toxic at certain levels. Scientists actually use sodium selenite to create cataracts in lab animals for study. There are preferred organic forms. Selenium has a very narrow window of beneficial amounts (25 to 75mcg.) Higher amounts are known to increase risk of diabetes (SELECT study). Supplement amounts usually range from 50 mg to 200 mg. Since selenium soil content varies and this influences grown food plant amounts, this impact has to be measured for proper supplement amounts to determine if selenium supplements are even needed.
  • While Vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients like bioflavonoids have health benefits, many of them are also capable of adverse effects at excessive amounts or in certain conditions. 
  • The Precautionary Principle is always in play which dictates lower dosages with higher amounts only under Medical supervision.

Dressing the Elephant in the Room 

This is an appropriate place to address the overpowering Elephant in the Room issue that most serious discussions about health and vitamins dance around. Government Health Agencies under the goal of Pubic health make the rules about medical protocols. They establish which drugs and surgical procedures are accepted treatments for disease. This created a system that more or less pushed vitamins and other supplements such as herbals to the fringes of the medical system. These Agencies also control what can be said about the connections of vitamins and herbs to health and disease.  Even if new science supports an association, it cannot be promoted unless approved. Very few are approved, and even these are often later found to have errors.

First, this is the antithesis of how the Scientific Method is suppose to operate. article New views that challenge accepted doctrine or theories need to be debated and researched until they are either rejected and discarded or proven and become a new theory. But under the current health system, new views are more likely to be attacked and researchers discredited. Scientists studying the opposite view research can be denied study grant funds and Doctors can be barred from hospital services or threatened with loss of practicing license. Scientists conducting vitamin research can reach almost any predetermined study result by manipulating procedures during study setup and analysis. Unfortunately, the current vaccine mandates are a prime example of this abuse of scientific protocols. Opposite views are not being debated plus they are eliminated from communication social platforms, even if from the leading Scientists in their respected fields.

Vitamin Companies are very limited in what they can say or use in literature about how vitamins might impact health even with supportive science.

This website will reveal that some mainstream vitamin information is simply incomplete and has been jeopardizing Public health for quite soon time.

  Transparency should be a two way street. Health should be an open discussion arena and not used as a pawn in a game. So far, freedom of speech, although struggling to remain above water, remains one of the only avenues left to reveal vitamin supplement truths.

One possible way this might have occurred? Government Health Agency Professionals mainly come out of the Pharmaceutical Industry and not from the Vitamin Industry. If the Public takes vitamins and gets healthy, less drugs and medical care might be used. This can be verified by statistics in Europe where vitamins represent 8% of health money compared to only 2% in USA, with the expected resulting change in medical usage. Here is another concept for supplements that is often overlooked. Vitamin supplements should harmonize with normal body metabolism and not disrupt nutrient pathways in an adverse way. Plus, they should not overtax body elimination channels, especially liver, kidneys, and bladder. This appears to defeat the benefits of the nutrients in the first place. ref  OK, yes there are a few benefits from certain antioxidant nutrients with excess dosages. While the body ramps up their elimination, they would provide protection for the cells of the elimination organs. Vital Wealth Asset - Healthy Longevity

If you could only pick one, which would it be, wealth or health?

For many people, good health gains in value mainly during it's exit. Far to many people unwisely waste health building potential when young. Wealth without health is of questionable value and enjoyment. Unfortunately, appropriate information to protect and maintain health is severely lacking through mainstream medical channels.

A NEW SCIENCE, ANTI-AGING LONGEVITY

With new revolutionary technology advancing in many areas such as internet, cell phones, computers, self-driving autos, and robotics, health has not gone overlooked. The new science of anti-aging is making progress in extending the life of animals, but this research is not yet as consistent in humans. Small animals often react in a slightly different manner than humans in similar test situations.

The anti-aging area under study is focusing on Senolytic Compounds. Senescent cells may contribute to aging and degenerative diseases, such as cancers, diabetes, kidney and heart disease. During most of life, stem cells form into new cells that promote health. But with age, senescent cells can start accumulating and begin blocking out stem cell regeneration abilities. Science is not up to speed yet in duplicating animal longevity studies by controlling senecscent cells in humans. ref ref  But, as often happens, the body has two directions for the same cells, one beneficial, and one detrimental. Scientists have to walk a tightrope to discover what controls each direction before opening Pandora's Box. ref

CHALLENGING HEALTH LONGEVITY 

Up to this point, the most effective method discovered to extend life is by fasting, or systematically under-eating.

Another group of researchers are looking into natural foods, lifestyle, and vitamin supplements to achieve gains in longevity with some measure of success. A large study just released results that showed the past thinking that 20-30% of longevity thought to be controlled by genetics is really more like only 10%. Lifestyles and diet control the major part. The past studies showing 20-30% genetics were probably right, but about half of genetic influence can be overcome and modified by lifestyle and diet. This website attempts to bridge the gaps in the correct use of vitamin supplements which might have influence in this arena.

2020 COVID-19 REVEALS WEAKNESS OF IMMUNE FACTORS

COVID-19 viciously attacks people with weakened immune systems and especially thise with compromised lung capacity. But, unlike most past coronaviruses, COVID-19 disease is showing attacks on many other organs too.

Determining Nutritional Requirements and Needs

Every few years, these Government Agencies get together to evaluate how the Dietary Guidelines are safeguarding the health of Americans, and if any changes are necessary. These provide excellent information and recommendations. This information is put together and published by the ODPHP, the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Check out this chart for how Americans are consuming food groups. chart

All of this research is then evaluated and used far to infrequently to establish the Dietary Reference Intake for vitamins and minerals by the National Academy of Medicine. The RDI for potassium* was recently decreased from 4700 mg (established in 2005) to 3400 mg in 2019, since only 5% of USA population consumed 4700 mg. ref Really the only major change in quite some time.

FYI: Don't waste too much time attempting to find new vitamin and mineral deficiency data because the last one was conducted over ten years ago. The only nutrients the health agencies like to talk about now include a few B vitamins, vitamin D, iodine, plus occasionally iron. And these deficiencies are quite low, 10% or less. Funny thing about these nutrients, they are the ones that are part of the food fortification program.

Copied next are the Disease statistics from the Dietary Guidelines of 2010. Note that all these diseases are also related to a magnesium deficiency present in over 50% of population.

    Hypertension

          Cancer

  • Almost one in two men and women—approximately 41 percent of the population—will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime.

  • Dietary factors are associated with risk of some types of cancer, including breast (post- menopausal), endometrial, colon, kidney, mouth, pharynx, larynx, and esophagus.

    Osteoporosis

  • One out of every two women and one in four men ages 50 years and older will have an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetime.

  • About 85 to 90 percent of adult bone mass is acquired by the age of 18 in girls and the age of 20 in boys. Adequate nutrition and regular participation in physical activity are important factors in achieving and maintaining optimal bone mass.

Lots of good info but what is missing is a method to analyze and utilize this info into a practical way for consumers to pick proper vitamin supplements. This rather new strategic report looks to be attempting to provide some of this type of information, but all of this is rather complex to understand. That is why the vitamin fact sheets include a simpler consumer sheet save the technical sheet for professionals.

Even with all this great information, there are still major gaps in vitamin forms, dosages, and synergistic combinations to make multi-vitamins more effective and safer. Such as you will be hard pressed to find a definitive answer to the natural versus synthetic vitamin question and why it matters for fat soluble vitamins. Or that the family of related nutrients found together in natural foods play synergistic roles that are missed by the current vitamin fact sheets.

*FYI: Here is the rationale for the potassium downward change: For potassium, fewer than 5% of Americans met their daily recommendation in the past. The decrease in potassium recommendation combined with the mandated labeling of potassium on products will hopefully help Americans get closer to achieving their recommended daily potassium intakes.

This potassium change is really a very big deal. The functions potassium serves in the body are quite significant. ref  Potassium is one of three major minerals to allow nerve impulses to flow. Potassium is also the preferred acid alkaline balance mineral. This protects against having to pull minerals out of bones for this vital function, such as calcium qnd magnesium. There are pumps on cell walls that move minerals into and out of cells so they can work. Some of these pumps move potassium into cells and then, at the same time, move sodium out of cells.

The other cellular wall pumps move calcium into cells and magnesium out of cells. Calcium is needed inside cells for muscles to contract and magnesium is then needed for that muscle to relax.

While potassium doesn't have as many functions to perform as magensium at 300, they both play significant roles in maintaining health. And both are severely deficient in the American diet. Potassium at over 90% and magnesium at over 50%.

Will Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solve Disease

Forbes newsletter recently mentioned that "AI has the potential to unlock cures for various diseases and save the lives of millions..." 

The use of the word POTENTIAL is rather interesting. 

The Forbes article was not about people improving their health through diet, supplements, and lifestyle changes, the article was about speeding up drug development and the improvements and rapid cures this could bring.

But AI operates in a more complete package. On it's own, if fed all the vitamin nutrition drug health scientific studies, AI would arrive at a position similar to the one this website exposes. First, Get Healthy!  But, if fed only the established mainstream drug health data, it might not. It is going to be an intriguing period to watch and see how AI handles this scenario. AI could turn the whole system on it's head and go the healthy lifestyle direction.  Health Professionals would have to explain why they held opposite positions for so long since the science had long ago changed. Will the health powers now in control allow this to happen?

Here is what the pharma giant J&J has to say about AI on healthcare. Yes, it will speed up the process of finding disease faster with more directed testing and treatments. ref  But... what about AI on helping people get healthier? ref

And what about AI on vitamin Supplements? ref This website reveals there are now programs to help Doctors talk about how diet and supplements can health modify health results, such as for hypertension and diabetes. BUT, this assumes that supplements in the marketplace have peak health benefit formulas.
