Vitamin Flaws appeared to develop out of nowhere. But that is not really the case. This article drives into another rationale for flaws.
The Clarity of Vitamin Manufacturing
Vitamins used in supplements require many steps to produce. From raw materials to finished product, many safeguards need to be in place to protect vitamin forms during numerous lab processes which give vitamin forms opportunities to mutate, or introduce chemical contaminates, or to breakdown or become rancid which would adversely impact the product integrity.
To safguard vitamins during processing, Scientists use synthetic vitamin substitutes which are usually more stable than natural forms and easier to survive the lab processing. Scientist tested the synthetic vitamins and found that the body was able to convert most of the synthetic forms into the natural body active forms and determined the two forms equal.
But, problems have developed from many synthetic vitamins that occur during the time between absorption and conversion. Health Professionals are aware of some of these problems but have yet to determine impact on health. While the Folic Acid possible cancer connection is being downplayed by Health Professionals, the evidence is quite overwheming. Did you know there is a class of cancer drugs known as "antifolates"?
Here is what happens during this period. Synthetic Folic Acid reduces immune system activity and increases cancer cell growth rates, excess synthetic Vitamin B6 interferes with the function of the natural form of B6 necessary to protect nerves, resulting in nerve damage. Synthetic Vitamin B12 can can feed pathogenic bacteria strains reducing the favorable bacteria strains which alters digestion, colon health, increases estrogen recycling, and modifies brain activity mood swings. There are more, but these should suffice to reveal why flaws exist in all multivitamin formulas today and the potential seriousness of the situation. While synthetics have some major problems, they also have benefits after the conversion is complete. Unfortunately, there are some people with genetic variables that limit this conversion, especially for Vitamin D and Folic acid.
New research revealed that vitamin V2, the non animal form of D, reduces the D3 levels already in the body, the natural form of D from the sun and animal sources. PLus, D2 does not participate at the same level as D3 in building up the immune system's interferon signalling system. ref This is serious as protecting against viruses is growing in importance.
Next are a few questions that answers would help determine supplement choices and usage.
